‘Insight Hounds’, a great local sighthound training company, has marked its fourth anniversary. It was and is the inspiration of Clare Ware who has a particular passion for ex-racing greyhounds.
Clare learned a great deal from her first greyhound, Oscar, and found, with many owners of the breed, that they are life – changing companions: They are affectionate, gentle, highly trainable and great sleepers. In addition to introductory and training sessions at Shustoke Village Hall on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, Claire has an ‘Insight Hounds’ website packed full of information and enthusiastic contributions from hound owners – one big supportive hound family. Class groups are made up of greyhounds varying in age, size and personality, whippets, lurchers, saluki, deerhounds and Galgo Espanol: If they are sight hounds, they belong. On the second Sunday of the month, Claire heads a social walk at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens; a great opportunity to meet the dogs and talk to owners. Earlier in year, she was presented with a Small Business Award Winner’s certificate by Theo Paphitos of Dragon’s Den; so well deserved.
