Singing for Royalty to Honour The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
On Tuesday 24th May 2022 three Year 9 students from The Coleshill School, Jamie, Siobhan and Jamie-Lee sang in the Solihull Armonico Consort choir at the Royal Albert Hall to honour the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Royal Family were represented with the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester in attendance. Siobhan was thrilled to be introduced to the Duchess which was a very proud moment for her.
The girls were part of a 2000-strong choir in this spectacular event at the Royal Albert Hall. Their choir had practised the 15 songs for over 3 months. Two of the songs were written especially for the occasion. All the choirs came together for the first time in the afternoon of the event to practise before the actual performance in the evening. The girls were lucky to have seats right at the front and enjoyed all the performances.
Mr Smith-Childs, Headteacher commented:
“We were so proud of our students attending such a prestigious event as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. What a fantastic opportunity for them and a special memory they will never forget”.
