RS Connect group help raise over £10,000 for Ukraine aid relief
This month Managing Director Lea Hodson, teaming up with engineers – James Baker and Mike Lacey will be taking a 2500-mile trip to Poland with some donations in hopes to aid relief following the Ukraine crisis.
According to the UN, over 280,000 refugees are already in Poland with approximately 50,000 arriving daily. It is estimated that up to 4 million people may try to leave Ukraine because of the Russian Invasion. (EU)
Hopefully next week, the team will be driving a van and trailer filled with donations to be given out to women and children. So far this consists of daily essentials including 2380 nappies, toiletries, 48 packs of feminine hygiene products, sleeping bags and more.
We would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the members of staff for the generous personal donations, who so far have managed to raise over £1800 and contributed supplies. In response, the RS Connect group will match the total amount raised. The total amount raised is now over £10,000
Lea said: “After reading a wonderful post by Mick Balch, I spoke with my team and it was brilliant seeing everyone get behind this cause”
“As someone who likes to feel in control, I couldn’t even begin to imagine what the refugees must be going through”
Julie Stone, HR Manager said: “We have all been moved by the images we have seen in the media over the previous days and the sense of helplessness for the people of Ukraine who have been affected by the invasion and humanitarian crisis that is unfolding.”
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our employees and thankful that they have supported this relief effort. Without their donations, we would not be able to send much need items to help the people of Ukraine.”
