August News from Castle Bromwich Historic Gardens
August at Castle Bromwich Historic Gardens is set to be a very busy month with lots on offer for our visitors! For those of you all set to spend another summer in glorious England, we have plenty of events (and pies) to sink your teeth into.
Family Theatre
Open-air theatre is the name of the game, as usual all our events are planned with your safety as our number one priority which is why our outdoor plays are an absolutely perfect way to enjoy yourself whilst feeling completely safe.
David Walliams’s heart-warming Mr Stink arrives on Thursday 12th August, followed by the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland on Sunday 22nd August. Adult tickets cost £12 and Children £11, under 2’s free. There’s really no better setting for it than our beautiful gardens and you can bring your own picnic to enjoy, we also have refreshments available to purchase onsite too.
Fancy something more interactive? Well lucky for you we have Hook and Pans Adventures coming for 4 days too! Follow us deep into the magical Gardens, joining Captain Hook and Peter Pan as they race to see who will be the first to find lost treasure, Friday 27th-Monday 30th August. Tickets cost £12, £10 for members or you can purchase a group ticket that admits 4 for £40.
Unplug & Play
Our Unplug and Play events have returned this summer featuring Wild Wednesday’s and Crafty Thursday’s, there’s a whole load of fun packed into each event and families will utterly love it. Our Wild Wednesday events will allow you to explore nature and care for wildlife with storytelling, tree hugging and so much more outdoor adventure! Crafty Thursdays are arts and crafts oriented with a focus on nature: think birds, plants, paint… A bit of imagination and creativity is all you need to get involved! 1 ticket is for a table/group that seats up to 5 people (max 2 adults) so that’s just £10 for one family. Or £8 for members.
We also have three special all-day workshops, Friday Family Adventures with Artists. Artists Sophie Handy, Claire Whitcomb and Tom Ellis will be joining us with a variety of activities from shadow puppetry to tree decorations to bunting-making! One ticket is for a table/group that seats up to 5 people (max 2 adults). Tickets cost £25 for one family. The event is from 11am-3pm and each ticket includes a soft drink and snack for each child. Please feel free to bring a packed lunch or purchase refreshments from our café.
Up to 2 tickets may be purchased per customer to allow two families to work together.
Mindful & Nature Makers
Our regular Mindful Makers classes are suitable for newborn to 9-month-old babies with either a parent or guardian. They incorporate nature, art, craft and relaxation designed to facilitate mindfulness for both parent and baby.
Nature Makers classes are suitable for 6-month-old babies to 6 year-old children with either a parent or guardian. They are designed to be fun, educational and inspire creativity and mindfulness through nature-inspired arts and crafts.
Wind Down
For members only we have our Friday Night Wind Downs on 20th August, pop down to the gardens and enjoy the quiet with a picnic or leisurely stroll, evenings in the Gardens are truly magical. To become a Garden member please visit our website.
La la la la la
In case you didn’t hear… Singing is back! Our Melon Ground Sessions are about to turn it up a notch! Join us Thursday 5th and 19th August for a chilled evening full of musical surprises with one familiar face: talented guitarist extraordinaire, Vo Fletcher. Tickets cost £13
Anyone for a cuppa?
10th-15th August is Afternoon Tea Week, yep you read that right- a whole week dedicated to sipping on tea and stuffing your face with scones. Our £5 cream tea in a box will be here all-year round but if you are looking for the perfect excuse to indulge yourself look no further, either take away or find a nice spot in the Gardens to enjoy your tasty treat.

19th August is World Photo Day, the Gardens are full of beauty and has been the chosen setting for many photography shoots in its time. Feel free to get involved with this unique day by taking a few shots amongst our gorgeous greenery, posting on Instagram and tagging us in it!
