An eye on HS2
My previous article was about HS2 and the destruction that it is causing, and will continue to cause to the environment in Warwickshire and Solihull. Having seen that a bridge was put in place a couple of days ago over the M42, I decided to visit the area around Melbicks Garden Centre. To see the work. Just before you get to Melbicks, there is a large compound with easily the biggest crane I have ever seen, and I have seen a few! In the compound, another large bridge is being constructed (see photos). I’m guessing that when it has been completed the crane will be used to hoist it into place. In the layby that we stopped in, we saw a blue wooden gate, I assume that this is another HS2 compound!
The destruction of woods and natural habitats will continue. Up opposite Birmingham Business Park, there are two woods. The further one contains Coleshill Pool. I was told by an HS2 workman that the trainline would be going straight through the first wood, low and behold the next time I rode past it, there were loads of orange HS2 workers in there!
As I said in my last article, HS2 say that they are planting trees. But if you cut down a really old tree or wood, then replacing them with new saplings just doesn’t cut it!
People in Coleshill need to be made aware of HS2’s destruction!
